So I have some AWESOME news, and some not-so-great news…
The not-so-great news first: I have indeed missed my first planned FBF weight training workout of my plan…
BUTTTT… all for VERY good reason!!
As I mentioned yesterday, I had my two doctors appointments today at two different Johns Hopkins locations with both my neurosurgeons and I COULD NOT HAVE ASKED FOR ANY MORE AWESOME NEWS!!!
*Drumroll please*…
I will officially be having my second brain surgery THIS MONTH… as in BEFORE MY 19TH BIRTHDAY ON FEBRUARY 2!!! So within the next 3 weeks, I will be going under the laser (yet again) and get all this tumor drama OVER WITH FOR GOOD!!!
So let me get into the details of what was quite a rocky day to begin with!
After waking up bright and early at 5:30 am (because I was so excited) and FINALLY geting out of the house aroung 6:45, we had to go BACK HOME because both my parents forgot something so we inevitably ended up leaving 20 minutes later than planned. To top it off, the HORRIBLE traffic led to a ticket on the highway from my mom driving on a shoulder lane! Another 20 minutes off schedule…
So once we FINALLY got on track we made it to my first appointment with Dr. Quinones when he told me some pretty startling stuff. Okay, long story short (and to spare you all the medical jargon), Dr. Q told me that they found a NEW tumor on the LEFT side of my pituitary and that instead of secreting normal levels of Cortisol (in the 200-200 range), my tumor was causing secretions of levels in the 5000 range… YES! FIVE THOUSAND!! Talk about abnormal!
So this explains a lit about why weight is kind of herd for me to control at the moment and I get like ZERO sleep, but this will all be fixed much sooner rather than later!
So after seeing Dr. Q, we went over to Dr. Jallo where he basically confirmed what Dr. Q told me and said that I will definitely have my surgery before my birthday!!
So yeah, I may have missed a workout (and it certainly won’t be the last), but it’s so much more important for me to address the things out of my control and that are working against me… i.e. CRAZY CORTISOL LEVELS!!
What a great way to start 2009! A fresh new brain surgery, a new hobby (GUITAR!!) and a new fitness plan with new goals and my whole life and health ahead of me!
